Have you been Blooged!?
There is a great tradition out there call Booing (some places call it Ghosting). Well, if you haven’t been Booed then you need to start the Booing in your neighborhood. I realize it’s late, but it is not too late.
For those of you who do not know about Booing then here is a short and sweet explanation:
You fill a small gift bag with goodies, take it to a neighbor’s door, ring the door bell or knock, and run. The idea is for it to be anonymous. In the goody bag are a poem with instructions about Booing and a ghost for the family/person to hang on their door to showed they have been Booed. Then they in turn “pay it forward” and Boo someone else in the neighborhood.
The basic poem:
The air is cool, the season fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore…
Tricky witches at your door. The spooks are after things to do,
In fact a spook brought this “Boo” to you!The excitement comes when friends like you,
Copy this note and make it two. We’ll all have smiles upon our faces,
No one will know who “BOO”ed who’s places!Just two short days to work your spell,
Keep it secret, hide it well. Please join the fun, the seasons here .
Just spread these “BOO’s” and Halloween cheer.
and the instructions:
You have been BOOED! Please keep it going by following these directions:
- Enjoy your treat
- Place the BOO sign on your front door or visible in a window
- Within 2 days, make 2 copies of this note, make 2 treats & 2 BOO signs
- Secretly deliver to 2 neighbors/friends without a BOO.
- Keep an eye on nearby front doors to see how far and fast it spreads by Halloween.
We started it off this year in our neighborhood and the children had a ton of fun doing it. We got Booed twice ourselves withing the following few days. Since then I have see quite a few ghosts on doors showing those families had been Booed too.
So I dreamed the other night of an interesting new blogging game based on this fairly new Halloween tradition. But I needed some help with the cuteness factor so I begged and pleaded with a few graphic artist to help, but they were all too busy for some last minute work. So you I’m stuck with my lame work. While I love the icons I used from IconBuffet, it is just not the originality I wanted. Next year will be better. So I am starting this new little tradition. I think we’ll call it Blooged!. Do you want to play? The game ends October 31st, 2007 at midnight so we can start again (earlier) next year. Here are the rules:
1. Comment in some one’s post (you can do it anonymously if their blog let’s you) telling them they’ve been Blooged! and send them here to get this cute little graphic. Something like this:
You’ve been Blooged! Happy Halloween.
Go get your graphic.
or you can just copy this code:
You've been Blooged! Happy Halloween.
Go get your graphic.
If you have been Blooged!, then copy the graphic (right click and save it). Go ahead, take it.
2. Put the graphic in your sidebar showing everyone you have been Blooged!.
3. Write a post saying you’ve been Blooged! and copy the rules into that post (with links please). Or copy the code at the bottom of this list.
4. Go Bloog two bloggers and then they will Bloog two bloggers and they will Bloog two more bloggers and so on and so forth.
5. Because Booing is sharing of something fun and yummy (a treat) and it’s hard to share good chocolate via the Internet, we must substitute something else yummy for the Blogging community - a little linky love is always sweet, right? At the bottom of your post you must name the two bloggers you have Blooged! and include a link to their blog.
6. Don’t forget to come back here to comment and share who you Blooged!
Code for your post:

4. Chewymom (because her blog is the first place I learned about booing).
5. You!
Thanks for the BLOOG!
I copied the graphic, but it only printed the text and not the graphic…did I do something wrong??
I don’t know why it didn’t work. I sent it to you in an e-mail though.
